We use AI in our day‑to‑day work, and we’re excited to tap into its potential to help us deliver even more value for our customers. Our team thrives on collaboration, growth, and learning, with a focus on driving transparency, efficiency, and consistency across all our products.

We value reuse rather than reinvention. We contribute to each other’s work to make it better. We like to have fun, celebrate our wins, and learn and grow from our mistakes.

We’re looking for a Principal UX Engineer to drive and define the investments that make AI a first‑class part of how we build products. You’ll shape how AI fits in our product lifecycle, evaluate emerging models, methods, and shape the tools, workflows, and guardrails that help PM, Design, and Engineering ship world class experiences in an AI-forward way. The focus is end‑to‑end efficacy - from ideation through design‑to‑code - so product makers can deliver customer impact at speed and scale without lowering quality, trust, or coherence.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned UX engineer who is passionate about systems thinking, design-to-code processes, and the continuous improvement of how we build product and the systems that underpin it. You have a technical foundation, experience working with design systems and cross-disciplinary collaboration. You are a problem solver with a strategic mindset, driven by a customer-first and partnership-led approach. You value openness and strive for creating clear and cohesive experiences across products. You are also excited about mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams to elevate the product making process and foster a culture of innovation.

In this individual contributor role, you’ll serve as the point person for AI enablement across Microsoft’s collaborative app experiences product groups in Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Engage, and Planner. You’ll evaluate emerging models and methods, identifying where they unlock meaningful new capabilities, and translating those opportunities into concrete platform investments. You’ll build (or prototype and prove) the tooling, workflows, and guardrails needed to scale AI‑assisted delivery, and you’ll partner closely with product teams to validate impact in real scenarios and turn what works into repeatable, scalable patterns.
