As a Principal UX Engineer at ModeDS, you will collaborate closely with design, engineering, and product teams, driving the implementation of design systems, motion design, and tooling improvements. Champion collaboration between design and engineering to fill gaps and contribute to initiatives that create opportunities for impact.Lead the development and/or enablement of front-end design solutions, technical prototypes, tooling, and/or user interface systems for one or more owned products. Influence design ideas to generate ideation solutions for complex products through meetings to improve product designs and influence the prioritization of product backlog and sprint management.Lead interactions with Engineering for successful design implementation. Lead design Q&A forums to ensure "pixel perfect" designs.Lead the building and maintenance of tools, platforms, and systems, and you’ll ensure the use and adoption of the latest codebases and design systems. Set context for senior leadership stakeholders.Lead collaboration with creative team members, program managers, and developers to define and iterate on new and existing product features as well as make decisions on behalf of One Microsoft.Communicate a compelling, convincing product story to a variety of audiences, inspiring excitement and support of the product, and you will create clarity and build energy for stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:8+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production codeOR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production codeOR equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications:  
Experience working on large codebases.  Experience with Figma and Figma component libraries and/or plugins.  Experience with front-end build systems and tooling. Attention to detail and polish while considering performance and maintainability. Ability to work effectively across disciplines (Design, Research, Engineering, PM).  Effective communication, problem-solving, planning, and documentation skills.
UX Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
