As a Senior UX Data Scientist, you will use your data insight skills to influence impactful UX projects and long-term strategic explorations. Your role will be pivotal in validating our belief that good UX equates to good business.
You will dive into telemetry/instrumentation datasets to uncover patterns of user behavior and connect those to gaps in the customer experience and opportunities for business impact. We are looking for a visionary who can bring fresh ideas to the table, expand the existing data-driven approach to steer product UX strategy, and exhibit strong leadership, research, storytelling, and organizational skills. Essential to the role is business acumen and the capacity to collaborate effectively across teams.
Responsibilities
Work closely with data scientists, data analysts, and UX Researchers to define user-level behavioral telemetry in our product portfolio.
Develop data collection and statistical analysis strategies, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Develop an understanding of technical and non-technical users of Microsoft Security products to ensure we are designing solutions that meet their expectations.
Expand the UX measurement framework to measure the effectiveness of UX improvements and track user engagement.
Use data analytic and data scientific approaches to measure and understand user behavior and UX challenges.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to define research objectives and incorporate insights into the product development process.
Utilize analytic tools and techniques to analyze very large data sets, derive meaningful insights, and uncover patterns and trends related to user behavior.
Present research findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and through visual presentations.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX research and data analysis and apply them to enhance our research methodologies and techniques.
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications:
Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.Experience managing structured and unstructured data including coding in at least one high-level programming language such as Python, R, C/C++, C#, or Java.Proven experience analyzing user experience either through UX research or UX focused data scienceAdditional or preferred qualifications: Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.Expertise in algorithms, machine learning, and deep learning. Proficiency in data mining, big data technologies, and experimentation methods (e.g., A/B testing). Ability to influence and tell compelling data stories. Experience working in Agile development environments is preferred. Experience building dashboards using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar.
Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
