In doing so, we create life-changing innovations that impact billions of lives around the world.The Defender Experts for XDR team is seeking a Threat Response Operations Manager to lead efforts in identifying and responding to advanced cyber threats. In this role, you will leverage Microsoft’s trillions of security signals to quickly uncover emerging human adversary behaviors, generate high-quality, context-rich alerts, and develop tools and automations that help customers detect and respond to threats faster. You’ll also play a key role in driving innovation around detecting sophisticated attacker tradecraft. This is an opportunity to lead within a high-impact team that empowers enterprises to stay ahead of evolving threats through expert detection, investigation, and response capabilities.
This position is remote, managing a geographically diverse team, and will require work outside of traditional weekday hours.

Monitoring and Detection: Guides team to develop prioritized detection capabilities. Manages internal stakeholder relationships appropriately to maintain awareness. Oversees team in detecting potential or actual intrusions. Ensures team is properly resourced to identify and mitigate intrusions. Drives improvements into first-party products. Leverages and contributes to others' work. Shares best practices and lessons learned across teams.Threat Intelligence and Analysis: Supports team in threat analysis and provides guidance on prioritization of analytical efforts. Guides teams and secures resources and partnerships as needed to address threats.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:7+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, security operations center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), and information technology (IT) operationsOR a Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field5+ years of technical experience using analysis tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Splunk, Power BI)3+ years of people management experience in security3+ years of experience in delivering managed threat hunting services for large, matrixed organizations3+ years of experience with Windows OS internals and security mechanisms, cloud infrastructure and authentication/authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth, SAML), and threat analysis models such as the Diamond Model, Cyber Kill Chain, and MITRE ATT&CKPassion for interacting with customers and problem solvingOther Requirements:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafterCitizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.Controlled Technology: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
