OverviewAzure Core is at the forefront of innovation for Microsoft’s Cloud and AI mission. We are the One Fleet Platform team within Azure Core, responsible for designing and building foundational primitives, platforms, hardware, and services that power the current and next generation of applications, including Generative AI. Our work expands the Azure Cloud (AI Regions, Region Expansions, New Clouds), scales out new hardware introduction, and enables the safe, scalable, and efficient evolution of Azure while improving the foundations of platform quality for every developer and enterprise.
As Principal Technical Program Management (TPM) on the One Fleet Platform team, you will lead programs, design tools, platforms and processes to accelerate and scale up Microsoft Cloud’s hardware fleet lifecycle. You will work across the company partnering with engineering, hardware, supply chain, operations, and security teams to define strategy, drive innovation (including AI-powered capabilities), and deliver measurable impact on Azure’s business and customer trust. Because this is a significant area of investment for Azure, this role provides an opportunity to contribute to Azure revenue and customer adoption.

Responsibilities
Be part of an inclusive team of technical program managers spanning multiple workstreams — coaching for impact, setting clear expectations, and modeling Microsoft’s culture and values.Provide strategic direction to cross-divisional teams as they partner with software and hardware engineering to design technical solutions across Azure Core and the hardware fleet lifecycle; oversee teams as they identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.Drive cross-divisional teams to define success criteria and articulate return on investment for accelerating time to market for the hardware lifecycle; oversee team collaboration and ensure alignment on roadmap and release.Champion the adoption of generative AI tools to streamline planning, feedback-loop synthesis, and engineering-system efficiency, setting a new standard for scalable, data-informed decision-making across the platform.Secure executive support for the company-wide initiatives needed to succeed, maintaining the highest levels of trust and integrity with all stakeholders.Stay abreast of industry trends in cloud infrastructure and advancements in program management, ensuring our approach and practices remain cutting-edge. Oversee teams:Deliver on committed roadmaps — tracking project schedules, staging and implementation, holding teams accountable for leading governance programs, and improving engineering velocity and time to market.Driving continuous improvement across key results, validating use cases and partnering across departments to collect performance metrics that improve fleet reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.Technical design understanding of hyper-scale cloud distributed systems, hardware and data centers, security, compute, networking and storage platforms.Master’s degree in computer science or a related field. 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.6+ years of technical experience influencing technical roadmaps #azurecorejobs
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
