This has massive implications for sustainability, energy, environmental systems, smart materials, and more. We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager - Quantum. As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will help productize quantum solutions. You will be expected to collaborate cross-functionally, working across hardware and software engineering and design, quantum scientists, and leadership to bring quantum solutions to market for commercial customers – and will successfully guide solutions through key project milestones. You will be responsible for developing our product story for audiences from executive stakeholders to customers, using a balance of story-telling skills and product development expertise to help increase the impact of the team.

Deliver quantum solutions: Drive cross-functional collaboration to accelerate delivering quantum solutions to customers. Develop product stories: Develop compelling product stories and presentations for leadership discussions and customer engagements. Execution: Ability to translate the strategic vision into discrete execution steps across engineering and business teams, collaborate with other PM leaders, engineering leaders, and peers across the Quantum team to establish a successful rhythm of continuous execution.   Data Driven: Skilled at using data to draw insights, answer hard questions, make decisions, and guide actions.   Communication: Able to conduct insightful conversations with business and technical decision makers inside and outside Microsoft. Communicate complex ideas to others in a clear, effective, and motivating manner. You are also a skilled negotiator, with the ability to find shared value working with internal stakeholders, corporate partners, and customers.   Collaboration: Incredicble collaborator, able to work effectively across broad teams and influence stakeholders of all levels and of all disciplines across Microsoft – including those who have little to no experience in the quantum arena.    Team Culture: Ability and passion to participate in cultural initiatives, having positive impact on team morale and fostering an environment of inclusion, modelling Microsoft’s cultural attributes and leadership principles.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, or product development OR equivalent experience. 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 5+ years experience shipping complex products using an end-to-end design development process. 3+ years experience in visual, written, and oral presentation skills. 3+ years experience in translating complicated highly technical information and solutions for different audiences - including internal leadership and customers or key partners.

Other Requirements:

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Additional or preferred qualifications:

Master's Degree AND 12+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, or product development OR equivalent experience. 10+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 5+ years' people management experience.Demonstrated ability to successfully guide ambiguous and complicated products from concept to launch.

Technical Program Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
