Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (DCS) team is responsible for the development and implementation of global strategies across our Datacenters (DCS). As a Senior Technical Program Manager - Infrastructure Utilization Efficiency focused on Infrastructure Utilization Efficiency (IUE), you will be responsible for leading and managing dependent stakeholder objective key results (OKRs) across the America East Region as well as partnering on team projects, analytics, and growing key business partnerships aimed at optimizing power management infrastructure across diverse geographical locations and multi-disciplinary teams. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for maximizing efficiency, increasing energy consumption, and ensuring sustainable practices in our cloud infrastructure.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager - Infrastructure Utilization Efficiency to join our dynamic team. The candidate will specialize in the optimization of space, power, cooling, and network systems within live datacenter colocation (colo) environments. The candidate will be responsible for managing and executing strategic projects aimed at maximizing load balance and IT capacity, ensuring efficient and reliable operations across our datacenter facilities. Optimization Strategy:

Develop and implement strategies to optimize space utilization, power distribution, cooling efficiency, and network performance in live datacenter colos. Ensure that all deployments are designed to maximize load balance and Information Technology (IT) capacity.Project Management:

Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex datacenter projects. Utilize project management methodologies to drive project schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and deliverables to completion.Data-Driven Decision Making:

Utilize data analytics to conduct feasibility studies, model potential outcomes, and identify opportunities for optimization. Analyze and interpret data to make informed decisions that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, as well as external vendors and partners. Ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.Technical Expertise:

Apply in-depth knowledge of datacenter infrastructure, including power and cooling systems, network architecture, and space management. Leverage this expertise to solve complex technical challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Budgeting and Forecasting:

Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that all financial objectives are met. Provide accurate forecasting and financial reporting to leadership, highlighting key risks and opportunities.Modeling and Simulation:

Utilize advanced modeling tools to simulate various deployment scenarios and their impact on datacenter operations. Ensure that models are accurate, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.Leadership Reporting:

Prepare and present detailed project reports to leadership, including status updates, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations. Ensure that leadership is informed of project progress and any potential issues.Compliance and Standards:

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.4+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing infrastructure solutions within large-scale datacenter environments.2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

Experience leading and managing large-scale, complex programs in datacenter environments at an enterprise scale.Expertise in substation power, building power, and tile power consumption within datacenters.Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and derive actionable insights to drive informed decision-making.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, drive consensus, and influence decision-making.Experience with project management methodologies and tools (Agile, Scrum).PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
