Responsibilities
The Technical Program Manager - Data Center Capacity Delivery will lead the business initiatives to scale and accelerate Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organizations’ datacenter infrastructure delivery and network upgrades. They will develop and lead the project plans to achieve the desired business outcomes. They will partner with cross-functional stakeholders building relations, unblocking issues and earning their trust adding value to the execution functions. They will ensure proper governance, development and maintenance of business processes and appropriate reporting of the projects they own and the impact of the business deliverables they drive. They will enable Microsoft to commit high confidence delivery dates to customers partnering with planning, other program management and execution teams. They will have a desire to build on their knowledge to become subject matter experts in functional areas of the capacity delivery lifecycle.
Program & Portfolio Management
Develops cross-functional relationships to drive orchestration and integration efforts for the development and implementation of complex cross functional projects with internal teams driving process improvements and its change management.Drive cross-team and global programs as needed to meet the scale and speed of customer capacity requirements managing complex business needs such as new and fast changing design requirements, increasing demand, aging infrastructure, managing internal and external dependencies to deliver cloud capacity to customers. Collaborate and coordinate across organizations to ensure alignment of process improvements including tradeoffs, adjustments, and justifications as feasibleCollaborates with others to track, coordinate, and communicate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., sprint/semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for focus areas. Works with others to establish and monitor processes and helps hold stakeholders accountable for following the established schedule and processes. Monitor project risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential issues partnering with regional end to end program management teams. Helps track and manage dependencies of potential risk areas and escalate appropriately. Adjust projects when they deviate from schedules or goals. Leads teams to partner with others (e.g., Data Science, Software and Engineering) to collect performance metrics (e.g., Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] such as schedule, risk, quality), monitor and report on progress (e.g., business reviews), and derive deep insights that lead to improvement and iteration of processes.Leverages customer listening systems, telemetry, engagements (e.g., interviews, surveys), etc., to develop insights into pain points and customer needs. Forms hypotheses and develop business requirements to create technical solutions and measures to drive performance improvement metrics addressing those needs.Manage the pilot / release of the improvement plans partnering with execution teams, in alignment with Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for focus areas.Leads process improvement programs across build, lease and network refresh with goals to improve predictability and meet customer need by dates.Leads innovation and experimentation to bring systemic changes to capacity delivery blockers.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that each project meets its objectives and is delivered on time.Provide regular project updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering,technical program management, operations management or supply chain management 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years’ experience in engineering, technical program management, data analysis, or supply chain managementOR equivalent experience.5+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Detailed understanding of global datacenter infrastructure designs, network, operations, and engineering.Professional PM certification, PMP, Prince2, PMI, ESI or equivalent.3+ years’ experience planning, managing, and delivering global programs/projects in the datacenter infrastructure industry
Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
