Description

The Datacenter Critical Environments Systems Intelligence (CESI) team is responsible for transforming Microsoft’s global datacenter critical environment (CE) operations through deep telemetry, data analytics and integrative automation. Working in lockstep with Microsoft’s cloud service development and operations teams, CESI powers telemetry service management and Internet of Things (IoT) architectures that contemplate end to end Cloud availability and sustainability.

The Senior Technical Program Manager - Critical Environments is a strategic and high-impact role within Microsoft's datacenter critical environment.

The primary responsibilities are to:

Lead and advance Microsoft’s Critical Environment telemetry ecosystem for Class B and C Data Centers while also providing strategic oversight and support for Class A Data Centers under construction. Drive continuous operational excellence, resource efficiency, and the development of innovative telemetry solutions that extend across first and third-party applications as well as systems.Collaborate with various teams to ensure the infrastructure design and strategy for new Data Centers align with a common roadmap, showcasing Microsoft’s Azure and cybersecurity platforms.Manage x-organizational programs and services to federate physical datacenter telemetry using advanced hardware devices and software interfaces, impacting areas such as power management, mechanical optimization, and utility demand response programs. Work closely with architects, engineers, data scientists, and researchers, to foster a sustainable relationship between Data Centers, the Cloud, customers, and the planet, while influencing and advancing Microsoft's overall Data Center strategy.Other

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

OR equivalent experience.

2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.6+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.Experience with IoT integration in data center environments.Technical knowledge of power monitoring systems and related infrastructure.Communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.Experience in subcontractor management and vendor relationship management.Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Power App).Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.Experience with commissioning and testing of Energy Power Monitoring System (EPMS) systems. Building Automation System (BAS) is a plus.Experience presenting complex technical concepts to stakeholders.

Service Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
