Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) group is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to establish and deliver a prioritized roadmap for enhancing a globally distributed test platform used to automate the validation of essential equipment and interconnected systems during the data center construction and commissioning phases. The Senior TPM will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and supporting custom hardware and on-prem/cloud-based services that automate the collection and analysis of high-speed diagnostic measurements and environment data. The platform provides Microsoft and external engineers the ability to quickly make critical decisions about the performance and health of systems and equipment. Our test automation is being used to validate our data center infrastructure that supports more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities

Design and propose architecture and solutions for complex technical needs, collaborates with internal and external partners, and defines program goals and success metrics for multiple feature areas. Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions, to increase agility and efficiencies while lowering costs and improving safety. Innovate and validate ideas through data-driven pilot programs and experiments, gathering and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data to drive continuous improvement. Define success criteria, track project schedules, and deliver on roadmaps with minimal supervision, while staying updated with governance programs and facilitating engineering priorities. Act as a technical advisor to educate and evangelize the feature areas (e.g., product, service) they work on with customers via meetings, presentations, and other forums.  Integrate relevant data on product usage, telemetry, and service data together to identify complex patterns, generate hypotheses, and build a plan to change the product. Monitoring and reporting to leadership using data from a variety of sources including telemetry, customer support, business value, and our commercial teams Influence product roadmaps by developing relationships with product teams, sharing insights and data from customer engagements, and driving executive communication. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, product development, or Computer ScienceOR equivalent experience.2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects that directly involved software delivery and/or technical implementation of complex production systems.Experience partnering with software and hardware engineering to design architecture and integrated customer solutions to complex technical needs for multiple feature areas.Understand common cloud architecture patterns and trade-offs, best practices for cloud engineering, security, developer productivity issues, etcOther Requirements:

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmentOR equivalent experience.6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos). Experience with distributed systems, performance analysis, databases, test automation, and/or large-scale data processing systems. Experience managing governance programs and processes to ensure that specific performance requirements and standards are met throughout the development lifecycle (e.g., quality, compliance, privacy, security, safety, accessibility).Experience interacting with both technical and business subject-matter experts across multiple organizational levels.Knowledge of cloud archiecture patterns and security best practices.Excellent technical design, problem solving and debugging skills Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
