OverviewThe Microsoft Core Compute Product Management (PM) team plays a pivotal role in shaping how Microsoft’s platform and infrastructure deliver value to customers. The team serves both external and internal customers for all compute platform needs, including defining and implementing new products, innovating at the infrastructure level, and providing infrastructure for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Core Compute PM is dedicated to creating the industry’s best cloud platform with a focus on performance, cost efficiency, and innovation. Responsibilities include product management for Azure Core Compute and building a top-tier compute platform for Microsoft products such as cloud-native services, AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC), data platforms, Bing, and Microsoft 365.
The Azure Core Compute PM team drives cross-team initiatives across Microsoft to deliver and optimize customer experiences for planet-scale services. This includes host innovation and ensuring high availability, maintainability, reliability, manageability, performance, scalability, elasticity, and security. We are passionate about solving distributed systems engineering challenges with cutting-edge technology on a massive scale. As a Technical Principal Program Manager , you will play a crucial role in managing Core Compute infrastructure and services and driving platform planning across teams and partners. You will collaborate with engineering and product leaders across Azure Core Compute and work with critical customers to define the team’s direction. Responsibilities include driving continuous planning, defining customer and business value for top initiatives, and setting success criteria for deliverables. This role requires technical depth and experience to lead complex cloud infrastructure initiatives, balancing priorities and addressing critical challenges while working across engineering and product organizations.

Responsibilities
Product Leadership & Strategic Execution - Own and drive complex technical programs across the core phases of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, closure, and change management. While translating business and product vision into actionable plans, driving execution and accountability in partnership with engineering, product, UX, data science, and business teams.Strategic Leadership & Risk Management - Define program vision, strategy, and execution plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project and program risks, providing data-driven recommendations to stakeholders to manage dependencies and ensure timely delivery of program milestones.Cross Functional Collaboration - across areas to gather and prioritize requirements, scope engagements, and align resources with commitments. Partner and influence engineering, product, UX, data science, and business teams to deliver complex technical solutions.Success Metrics & Implementation Leadership - Define and monitor key metrics (e.g., latency, throughput, quality scores, revenue impact) in partnership with cross-functional teams to guide program priorities and evaluate success.Develop success criteria and build relationships to drive implementation across highly complex, cross-functional initiatives.Executive Communication & Reporting - Provide program updates and risks to leadership, translating complex issues into actionable, business-aligned narratives. Establish clear visibility into progress, priorities, and KPIs, ensuring Leadership Team and partner teams are informed and aligned to communicate effectively across technical and executive audiences.Operations Excellence - Influence partners across all stages of cycle planning to support development of workstreams, missions, and milestones to track towards goals. Acting as both a thought leader and hands-on practitioner to drive efficiency, scalability, and consistency across processes, capabilities, and services, ensuring operational excellence in program delivery

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management or product developmentOR equivalent experience.5+ years people management experience.6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Other Requirements:

Technical Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
