Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Communications Lead to join our Sustainability Team within Procurement.

This role is pivotal in driving our sustainability engagement strategy, fostering strategic partnerships, and managing both internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainability and possess a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex sustainability initiatives and engage a wide array of stakeholders.

As the Sustainability Communications Lead, you will be responsible for crafting and executing communication strategies that inspire and mobilize our suppliers, employees, and partners. You will lead efforts to develop and disseminate training and readiness materials that address knowledge gaps and enhance the understanding of our sustainability goals.

Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that our sustainability messages resonate and drive action.

In addition, you will play a critical role in establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships within the company to build a robust sustainability network. Your ability to create compelling narratives and proof points will be essential in showcasing Procurement Sustainability’s contributions to Microsoft’s broader carbon-negative ambition.

Supplier and Internal Stakeholder Sustainability Engagement:

Responsible for leading supplier and internal stakeholder engagement strategy and readiness efforts Continuously evaluate needs for training and readiness materials and develop new materials in collaboration with internal and external partners to address knowledge gaps. Inspire our suppliers and employees around the actions we are taking to reduce our carbon footprint and to contribute to our overall sustainability goals.

Building Strategic Partnerships

Establish relationships across the company to build a sustainability network. Identify opportunities to create visibility, proof points and storytelling of Procurement Sustainability’s contribution to Microsoft’s carbon negative ambition Partner across Procurement to gain scale through peer teams Responsible for contributing to external reporting requirements on behalf of the Procurement Sustainability Team (ex: CDP, annual Sustainability reports)

Program Operations:

Manage sustainability comms calendar Responsible for oversight of supplier support desk

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 2+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvementOR equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Understanding of carbon accounting Written and verbal communication skills and an ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences at all levels of the organization Highly driven passionate person, with a demonstrated track record of exceeding goals Comfortable dealing with ambiguous situations and skilled at influencing teams and leaders without authority. Knowledgeable about sustainability and eager to learn more A high level of enthusiasm, creativity, self-motivation, and resourcefulness Ability to work both independently with minimal direction and collaboratively across multiple functions Growth mindset with problem solving skills Plays well with others and thrives in cross-team environments Relationship building skills, maturity, solid judgement, and high degree of self-confidence. Business Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.
