Description

Overview

This position requires a rare combination of qualifications. We are looking for a senior technologist with demonstrated hands-on experience building and delivering enterprise solutions β€” someone who has led cloud migrations, designed application architectures, and worked at the delivery level β€” and who has equally developed the executive presence and strategic acumen to advise senior government leaders on technology transformation.

This is not a traditional technical sales role, nor is it a purely advisory one. The Account Technology Strategist is the most senior technical voice in the account and is directly accountable for driving technology adoption and revenue outcomes within their portfolio. The right candidate understands that credibility is what opens doors and execution is what closes them β€” and they are as comfortable owning a number as they are owning a room.

This is also a high-tempo role. Federal technology transformation is rarely linear β€” it involves competing priorities, complex stakeholder environments, procurement obstacles, and delivery challenges that require someone who can operate strategically and respond decisively when things do not go as planned. The ability to think long-term while managing short-term urgency is not a nice-to-have β€” it is a daily requirement.

This role sits within Microsoft Federal's Health & Scientific Missions team, which supports technology transformation across some of the most complex and consequential agencies in the federal government. The scope of impact is significant, and the expectations are commensurate.

Microsoft is on a mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Our culture is centered on embracing a growth mindset, a theme of inspiring excellence, and encouraging teams and leaders to bring their best each day. Growth mindset encourages each of us to lean in and learn what matters most to our customers, to create the foundational knowledge that enables us to make customer-first decisions in everything we do. In doing so, we create life-changing innovations that impact billions of lives around the world. You can help us achieve our mission.

Responsibilities

Technical Sales Leadership and Business Outcomes

Own accountability for technology adoption and revenue outcomes within the assigned portfolio, working in close partnership with the Account Director.Drive opportunities from early-stage technical discovery through solution design, acquisition support, and delivery oversight β€” ensuring they are architecturally sound and commercially executable.Manage competing priorities across multiple accounts and stakeholders simultaneously, maintaining momentum on strategic initiatives while responding to near-term escalations and delivery challenges.Win business through technical authority and demonstrated commitment to the customer's mission success β€” building the kind of trust that accelerates decisions and sustains long-term partnerships.Executive-Level Technology Advisory

Serve as the primary technology advisor to senior IT and program leadership, building and sustaining relationships at the CIO, CTO, CDO, and senior program executive level.Translate mission priorities, enterprise constraints, and agency goals into a multi-year technology and architecture roadmap that is realistic to fund, procure, and execute.Lead executive envisioning and briefing sessions that go beyond presentation β€” bringing live demonstrations, concrete architecture options, and a substantive point of view that helps senior leaders make confident, informed decisions about AI and cloud adoption at scale.Solution Architecture and Technical Integrity

Work on cross-platform solution architectures integrating Azure infrastructure, Power Platform, Microsoft 365, Copilot, and application development into a coherent, mission-aligned technology strategy.Demonstrate capabilities live β€” in the portal, on the whiteboard, or in the wireframe β€” and deliver artifacts or translate so that delivery teams can actually build from.Maintain technical integrity across the account. When delivery teams β€” whether internal CSU, ISD, or external systems integrators β€” are building solutions that have drifted from the customer's best interest, this role has both the authority and the obligation to redirect them. That credibility must be earned through demonstrated expertise.Identify and resolve technical blockers quickly β€” this role is expected to be a problem-solver in real time, not just a long-range strategist.AI-First Engagement

Champion AI integration across every engagement β€” helping customers understand how AI changes what is possible for their specific mission and building a practical, phased adoption path grounded in their existing environment and procurement realities.Demonstrate fluency across Copilot, Azure AI, Power Platform AI capabilities, and the integration of AI across application development and data architecture.Cross-Functional Orchestration

Lead and coordinate the full virtual account team β€” specialist sellers, Global Black Belts, Customer Success, ISV partners, and systems integrators β€” through all phases of engagement.Serve as the technical authority that ensures every contributor is aligned to the customer's architecture strategy and mission outcome.Navigate ambiguity and organizational complexity β€” internally and within the customer environment β€” to keep programs on track and stakeholders aligned.
