We are seeking a dynamic Strategic Account Manager to join our team, focusing on the federal science and research sector, including the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce. This role is pivotal in identifying and shaping large, complex opportunities within these agencies. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a transformation leader, and solutions strategist who excels in building strategic industry and trusted relationships, driving towards customers' business outcomes by leveraging Microsoft solutions with a track record of winning large, intricate and sometimes nontraditional programs that you may find in the scientific community.

Opportunity Identification and Shaping:Identify and shape large, unconventional opportunities within the federal science and research sector.Client Engagement:Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, from top executives to operational staff.Build relationships with leaders of the assigned accounts and the broader ecosystem to shape strategic direction and business metrics.Spend significant time on-site with customers to understand their needs and challenges.Account Team Sales Leadership:Orchestrate and coordinate the appropriate teams and stakeholders across Microsoft, leading the sales process from initial contact through contract negotiation and closing.Execute plans for the assigned customer to ensure Microsoft and partner sales goals are on target, create high-value revenue-generating opportunities, and establish long-term customer success.Partnership Development:Collaborate with systems integrators, ISVs, and other partner stakeholders to increase the probability of winning contracts.Proactively expand the strategic network of key internal and external partners and decision makers.Market and Competitive Analysis:Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends and opportunities within the federal science and research sector.Build and maintain strong knowledge of Microsoft's offerings, the industry, competitors, and customer business priorities to articulate Microsoft's value proposition.Solutions Strategy & Strategic Thinking:Develop and implement solutions that meet the specific needs of customers, leveraging Microsoft technologies and services.Generate and leverage business strategic industry-focused insights to solve customer business problems.Develop long-term strategies aimed at building a level of loyalty that would be hard for competitors to overcome.Engage in strategic discussions by articulating ideas to evolve and facilitate the evolution of the customer business model using Microsoft capabilities.Industry Knowledge:Experience and/or knowledge of the Federal science and research community. Understanding of how the grant and funding processes. Coordinates with internal industry teams/experts to gather data of assigned accounts, industry trends, to help facilitate better planning and collectively win more business

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

11+ years experience in working in an industry (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy, Government, Education, Technology) and/or driving digital transformation

OR Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy, Government, Education, Technology) and/or driving digital transformation

OR Master's Degree AND 7+ years experience working in an industry (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Energy, Government, Education, Technology) and/or driving digital transformation

OR equivalent experience.

4+ years experience making recommendations to and/or collaborating with mid-to-senior level executives.

6+ years experience closing large, complex agreements/deals.

Cloud Screening: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

Experience with the competitive landscape within the Federal law enforcement industry.

Experience identifying and qualifying complex agreements/deals.

Strategic Account Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,100 - $185,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $144,000 - $203,500 per year.
