Cloud Sourcing, Security, and Sustainability Supply Chain (CS3) organization within CSCP, manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. The role of Sourcing Engineer manages system integrators under CSSC for Tier 1 System Integration supply chain and is also focused on specific platforms and partnership. Key focus areas will be:

Managing the flow and reconciliation of information, financial data, component material flows between the Tier I System Integrators (SIs) and the Tier 2 packing supplier.Stakeholder partnerships to ensure seamless circular flow of sustainable rack packaging.Lead regular and ad hoc cost, delivery and operations management discussions for assigned system integrator and packing supplier.Manage and influence supplier performance and compliance Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Responsibilities

Strategic sourcing support

Support the Sustainable Rack Packaging (SRP) strategic initiatives across the Tier I System Integrators (SI) supply chain.Represent SI Sourcing with the suppliers to ensure their adherence to MSFT requirements across functions, while building trust and influencing improvement to their operational performance.Represent SI Sourcing in various internal forums, and partner with teams on actions and deliverables.Engage across product design, quality, engineering, and operations to determine requirements for SIs.Contribute to architecting the supply chain for sustainable rack packaging that is resilient to disruptions and help develop mitigation plans to address geopolitical risk, seasonality, financial health, operational performance, and unplanned events.Collect, synthesize, and create fact-based insights to develop comprehensive and succinct leadership communications to help influence decision making and negotiations. Supply chain operations management and cost effectiveness

Develop SI sourcing operations processes to deliver optimized financial, material, and information flows between Microsoft, the SI’s, and the packaging supplier.Work closely with planning and suppliers to understand demand and supply, design solutions for adjusting to plan changes, ensuring optimized capacity and mitigating possible inventory risks.Create robust financial models to evaluate complex transactions by engaging with internal and external stakeholders to clearly articulate the outcome of complex financial analyses.Supports the financial health of the supply chain through focus on the operational execution of critical processes with the SIs and packaging supplier, to include commodity settlements, invoice payments, excess material settlements, inventory reconciliation, and reworks.Synthesize supply chain operations and sourcing data, to enable cross-functional decision making and contingency planning to ensure continuity of supply, support of demand, and seamless operations.Collaborate with demand/capacity planning, deployment, logistics, finance, data center operations, and engineering teams.Manage ad-hoc and drive continuous improvement of operational processes and performance metrics. Manage supplier performance and compliance

Develop and enable new suppliers.Ensure supplier compliant with Microsoft requirements (e.g. security, social responsibility, cost, quality, payment terms), holds suppliers accountable, and initiates corrective actions to drive improvement.Influence supplier performance through quarterly business reviews and Supply Chain interlocks of key performance indicators (KPIs) Core skills:

Excellent influencing skills with ability to build relationships across multiple layers in the organization. Strong verbal and written communication skills along with experienced storytelling abilities.Demonstrated critical thinking and applied logic to solve complex challenges.Deep analytical capabilities to synthesize and understand data.Extensive knowledge in hardware sourcing, supply chain, and product development process.Strong track record and proven capabilities to operate in cross functional teams and fast paced environment.Ability to lead in ambiguous situations, and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and changes with strong interpersonal, and organizational skills.Expertise with various business tools (e.g. word, excel modeling, power point slides) and able to generate quality outputs

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience OR equivalent experience. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Operations, OR related field AND 8+ years supply chain, planning (demand/supply/forecasting)OR, preferably in cloud industry experience, infrastructure, and/or change management experience OR supply chain consulting experience Consulting experience preferredPackaging background.Manufacturing Engineering background.

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
