The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Operating Unit (OU) is a newly formed team with a bold mission: to consolidate, simplify, and accelerate Microsoft’s presence across the DIB landscape. The DIB OU will directly manage and accelerate strategic and major DIB accounts across Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) Americas, while enabling Defense Innovation growth across other OUs. Data & AI is a growth opportunity for Microsoft Azure, as well as its partners and customers. It includes a rich portfolio of products including IaaS and PaaS services on the Azure Platform. The main goal of Microsoft Solution Engineer (SE) is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use our technology. The SE is expected to be able to both own and win customers’ technical decisions, as well as find new opportunities through their contacts and engagements for sales specialists to pursue. As a SE, you work within a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting resources to help educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate, and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision, allowing the team to achieve/exceed quarterly sales targets in your accounts. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based technologies.

Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with senior executives. Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects. The ability to influence and build relationships across technical and business teams. Demonstrates executive presence, presentation skills, deep technical product demo abilities, written and verbal communication skills. Works cohesively with customers, the Microsoft account team, and Microsoft partners. Helps others succeed by identifying and promoting innovative solutions and strategies. Experience in creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs), Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for customers that lead to production deployments.

Responsibilities

Own technical sales with customers’ technical decision makers (TDMs) leveraging processes and tools, demos, programs, offers, and drive proof of concepts (POCs) using consultative sales methodology and technical expertise across other Solution Engineers to influence the customer vision. Build trusted advisor relationship with customers’ technical decision makers (TDMs and TDM-1) and use proactive effort to find and understand customers’ pain points and work together with customers to co-develop secure & resilient solution architecture for production scale delivery using Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) best practices including Unified Support and Cloud Migration Factory (CMF) offer for every opportunity. Overcome competitors and technical objections and manage customer escalation with Global Black Belt and engineering team to share insights and best practices for product improvements. Critical to maintain and grow expertise in Fabric Data Platform, DW, real-time intelligence, BI, Purview and Azure Databases: SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL.Important to maintain and grow expertise in on-prem EDW appliance (Teradata, Netezza, Exadata), Hadoop & BI migration, and Azure DatabricksKeeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights; collaborate and share with the Database & Analytics technical community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

5+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ year(s) technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experienceOther Requirements:

The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Solution Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
