Description

Overview

On Xbox Team, we aspire to empower the world’s 3 billion gamers to play the games they want, with the people they want, anywhere they want. Gaming, the largest and fastest growing category in media & entertainment, represents an important growth opportunity for Microsoft. We are leading with innovation, as highlighted by the Xbox Full Screen Experience on Windows, bringing Xbox to new devices with Cloud Gaming, and our recent launch of handheld PCs like the ROG Xbox Ally that allow gamers to play their entire PC and Xbox library on the go.

The Xbox Experiences and Platforms engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer I to help us build Game Pass experiences and bring new end-to-end features to the Xbox app for PC.

In your role, you will work with a diverse team of engineers, building experiences and infrastructure that drive subscriber engagement and growth in the PC ecosystem. We’re using React Native on Windows to enable cross-product code-sharing, and as an experience team, work with partners across Team Xbox up and down the stack to enable scenarios.

In this role, you will deliver product features and codebase improvements on the Xbox app for PC. Your success requires that you work closely with your feature crew, Product Management, and Design. As a feature expert, you will contribute to projects with meticulous execution, hold a high bar on coding standards and quality for your work, and partner with individuals on your team, providing a positive environment to build more end user features and quality improvements.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for feature design and implementation, holding a high bar on quality, and delivering your projects through meticulous execution. You build features yourself, uphold all strict team coding standards, meet all compliance requirements, and address top issues needed to bring a product feature to market.

As a primary feature owner, you will ideate, scope, and drive implementation, validation, and health monitoring.

Your time will be primarily focused on implementing new features and ensuring product infrastructure requirements like performance, reliability, accessibility, using shared libraries, and telemetry are part of your work.

You will build real-time data monitoring and alerting signals to monitor the health of features you ship to know when critical errors happen and when critical dependencies fail, then proactively bring code fixes to address top issues.

Curiosity to understand what excites our existing user base and what motivates new users to use our products is part of the job: we own the end-to-end experience. Identify an MVP, implement, flight to a target set of users, collect data from flight audiences, iterate, pivot, and repeat – this is the DNA of our development culture.
