The Microsoft Search, Assistant, and Intelligence (MSAI) organization is responsible for building the Search and CoPilot Platform that powers Intelligent experiences across Microsoft 365. We are an organization with a focus on building Search and CoPilot Platform which is leveraged by all the Microsoft 365 CoPilot apps. Along with building the platform, we are also responsible for developing and delivering Microsoft 365 Chat Copilot and Search Engineering for Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and Data connectors.Joining the MSAI team for Search Platform is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and make a real impact on the way people work and communicate. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager in Search Platform team to lead a team of engineers to develop and deliver innovative solutions for our customers. You will be responsible for driving the technical vision and strategy for the team and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. M365 Search is a critical Platform of the Microsoft 365 platform where we intersect with a wide range of technologies and services such as Inverted and Vector Index, Artifical Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Workflows, Large Scale Fanouts, and more. Qualifications
Required/Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or JavaOR equivalent experience.6+ years people management experience.Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Experience with platforms that leverage cloud, and distributed systems computing.Experience with System Design and Architecture.
Experience with Networking, Security, and Privacy
Experience with agile development methodologies and a passion for continuous improvement.
Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
