Description
OverviewAzure is a global cloud platform that empowers every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. In addition to the public cloud offerings, the Azure platform also hosts global-scale Microsoft-internal services such as Microsoft Teams, Office, Bing, SQL, and so forth. The way we manage capacity (how we allocate workloads to servers, how to grant access to capacity, how we maintain capacity buffers, etc) plays a critical role in the success of Azure, and we seek to further invest in this area in Redmond US – software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists – to drive important initiatives to further enhance and optimize all aspects of Azure Core’s platform capacity management and efficiency capabilities.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us deliver highly scalable capacity management services and highly optimized efficiency solutions. In this work, you will join Azure Compute Capacity Optimization Team (ACCOT) and have opportunities to work on the most fundamental layers of the Azure Control Plane’s technology stack including the Azure Allocator and the Holmes service, which is the Azure control plane services that manages all workload migration within and across all Azure Data Centers. You will also work on Azure’s central capacity management services, such as Compute Capacity Central (CCC). You and your colleagues will work in close collaboration with your partner teams and develop your own projects. In collaboration with your partner teams, you will be responsible for the core services that track and manage capacity usage in Azure, maintain capacity buffers and provide key capacity telemetry. You will also work on highly efficient and customer-friendly services to allocator and migrate each workload to its optimal place within each data center and across.
In your role, you will work with a group of other tech leaders in Azure Core teams. You will work with top-quality software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists that tackles some of the most impactful and exciting problems in the Azure Core platform. You will also collaborate with a variety of partner teams across Azure and Microsoft. You will build services and functions that will improve customer experience and platform efficiency. And you will drive improvements to availability, scalability, and operability for Azure compute platform capacity and efficiency. If you are interested in large-scale distributed systems and enjoy working on reliable data engineering solutions, if you want to become part of a fun-loving, diverse team that seeks challenges, loves learning and values teamwork, if you want to work on services with tremendous growth potential and virtually unlimited impact on Microsoft’s core business, and if you want to be a member of ACCOT team, then this is the role for you. You will have opportunities for mentorship, career growth, and work on truly high-business impact areas.
