Description

Do you want to work on the .NET Roslyn Team as a Software Engineer building languages and tools loved by millions of developers?

The .NET Roslyn team is looking for an engineer to work on the open-source C# tools and compiler. This involves adding new language features and building the tooling to make coding in C# a joy in Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code and leveraging Copilot to further enhance the expereince.

This team builds experiences that enable developers to convert their ideas to high quality code very quickly through features like code completion, IntelliSense, background code analysis, automatic execution of unit tests, code explanation, improvements and refactorings through copilot and many more exciting features on VS, VS Code and open-source IDEs. The team also builds experiences that help developers understand and navigate existing code bases quickly from github directly.

What you can expect?

As an engineer in a team of about 9 people, you will be working together with your teammates to:

Use creativity, team-work, and accountability to master new complex technical areas that build best in class C# developer productivity featuresDesign, develop and test new features and bug fixes for IDEs like VS and VS CodeAnalyze how your code and features are performing in productionParticipate in your team’s sprint and product direction planning activitiesCollaborate with partner teams in both open and closed source to solve challenging architectural problems Use Copilot to enhance AI driven feature enhancementsStay up-to-date on .NET platform and ecosystem developments You’ll work both independently and collaboratively to achieve these results.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, or VB.NETOR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer ScienceOR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.2+ years of experience programming and unit testing commercial software in one of the following programming languages – C#, VB.NET, Java or C++Detail oriented design, coding, debugging and problem-solving skillsAbility to quickly learn new technologies and efficiently collaborate with partners to deliver outstanding results Good written and verbal communication skillsAbility to tune performance for new and existing codeExperience in using telemetry for data driven development would be very usefulFamiliariy with LLMs (Large Language Models), OpenAI's tools and platforms, including ChatGPT, will be considered a valuable bonus.Strong empathy for customers and persistent drive to learn from them Willingness to deep dive in technology and the ability to zoom out to frame the big picture

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
