Description

Overview

The Azure Networking team is advancing cloud and desktop networking end to end, scaling our infrastructure to support 200+ Microsoft online services (including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, and OneDrive) and hundreds of thousands of Azure customers. We operate a global footprint of 100+ datacenters, running millions of servers and edge nodes worldwide.

Our work spans networking hardware; optical and Internet Protocol (IP) networks across subsea, terrestrial, and metro fiber; hybrid connectivity (virtual private network (VPN) and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)) from on premises to cloud; edge peering and routing; and software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities such as virtual network (VNet), Load Balancer, security groups and services, application gateways, virtual appliances, and Domain Name System (DNS) for traffic management. We also contribute to open source and enable cutting edge technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) services on Azure and for customers.

As a Software Engineer II on our software-defined networking (SDN) team, you will help customers define and control the network behavior their workloads need in the cloud. You will deliver enterprise network functions, including access control lists (ACLs), firewalls, load balancing, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), intrusion detection systems (IDS), and denial-of-service (DoS) protection for virtual machines (VMs). These capabilities are implemented in software as a virtual network overlay on a shared, extremely high-speed physical fabric built on merchant silicon, using the host as the scale-out engine for policy so the underlying network remains simple, fast, and cost-effective.
