We are looking to hire a Software Engineer II that will join our mission of protecting Microsoft Cloud by building and operating security frameworks that will enforce security policies across thousands of services. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of security at Microsoft and leveraging your insights to protect Microsoft services and customers.

Responsibilities

Develop a world-class user experience for managing security eviction processes, Entra tenant management operations, and security graph visualizations.

Build and run security systems, data platforms that provide visibility into services security boundaries.

Collaborate across multiple services, organizations in Microsoft Security, Azure, and M365 to ensure services adhere to known security boundaries with deployed policies and automation.

Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce standards for code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure high code quality and system reliability.

Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor and respond to security system issues and incidents.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Or Python OR equivalent experience. 

Proficiency with React and TypeScript, including building reusable components, hooks/state patterns, and clean component architecture that aligns with an existing codebase.

Hands-on experience with Fluent UI (or similar design system): can implement complex admin UI patterns (tables/grids, command bars, panels/dialogs, wizards) while following design tokens and established interaction patterns.

Experience troubleshooting and debugging complex systems.

Experience working with cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS.

Experience with Identity and Access Management experience, especially authentication/authorization systems similar to Entra.

Experience with high-availability, automation, performance and building highly available distributed systems at scale

Familiarity with secure software design concepts

Proven track record of delivering projects that include multiple components

 

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
