OverviewThe MAI Monetization Demand Intelligence team builds intelligent, data-driven experiences that help advertisers plan, diagnose, and optimize their spend. We turn complex platform signals into actionable recommendations across budget and bid intelligence, diagnostics, audience planning, and keyword insights, with clear accountability to measurable revenue outcomes.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build large-scale backend services and data pipelines that power Demand Intelligence scenarios. You will work on high-impact systems such as budget recommendations, campaign diagnostics, audience planners, and keyword intelligence, delivering reliable, explainable, and measurable value to advertisers.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
Build and operate high-scale, reliable services for Demand Intelligence features including budget and bid recommendations, diagnostics, and planning tools. Design robust data pipelines and APIs that transform raw signals into trustworthy advertiser-facing insights. Partner with Product and Data Science to define success metrics, spend attribution, and incrementality models, and evaluate feature impact over time. Improve quality, coverage, and consistency of intelligence outputs through debugging, modeling, and availability improvements. Enable AI-driven and agentic capabilities by integrating modern LLM and reasoning patterns into advertiser workflows. Collaborate across engineering teams on design reviews, code reviews, testing, and safe production rollouts. Provide technical leadership and mentorship, raising the bar on engineering fundamentals and operational excellence. Leverage AI dev tools across the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Other Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.5+ years of experience building web applications, backend services, or data infrastructure. Solid coding skills in one or more languages such as Java or Python. Experience designing systems that are observable, debuggable, and resilient. Proven ownership of live services with SLAs/SLOs, including on-call and reliability improvements. Solid system design, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills. Experience with advertising platforms, optimization, recommendations, planning, or forecasting systems. Familiarity with measurement, experimentation, and evaluating feature impact. Experience building advertiser-facing products that convert complex data into actionable insights. Exposure to LLM-based or agentic systems in production environments.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
