SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the CHSE (Cloud Hardware Systems Engineering) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Solve complex problems, identify and drive solutions for systemic issues, and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.Actively participate in technical discussions and mentor peers, ensuring engineering best practices and maintaining a high-quality bar for code and design.Help translate requirements into elegant, user-friendly interfaces, applying UX and UI principles and accessibility best practices.Collaborate with hardware and software architects to determine key components and drive end-to-end verification strategies.Drive improvements in live site cloud systems, enabling safe and effective testing in production environments.Champion a âcan-doâ attitude across the organization, inspiring innovation and ownership.Advocate for performance optimization and responsive design, ensuring seamless user experiences across devices.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in computer science or equivalent experience.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience shipping, operating, and improving large-scale distributed systems.4+ years of experience in front-end web development (e.g., React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS) and building intuitive, responsive user interfaces. Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions across the endâtoâend project lifecycle.Proven development experience in a modern programming language; C# is preferred.Experience using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools, such as Azure DevOps.Experience with data mining, statistics, or applied mathematics.Ability to conduct technical deep dives across service design, operating systems, networking, and storage.Experience defining, tracking, and measuring customer-facing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).Familiarity with UX principles, accessibility standards, and frontâend performance optimization best practices.Ability to translate customer and business requirements into scalable technical solutions that deliver high-quality user experiences.Proven problemâsolving skills with a demonstrated commitment to quality and engineering excellence.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.#SCHIE #CHSE #azurehwjobs
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
