Description
OverviewHelp reinvent how advertising outcomes are measured in the AI era. You’ll join Microsoft Advertising in building the always-on measurement foundations that power performance, trust, and optimization at global scale. You’ll work on systems that transform raw conversion events into actionable attribution signals—so advertisers can understand what worked, what didn’t, and how to improve as customer journeys evolve.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Conversion & Attribution engineering team, you will strengthen the near real-time conversion pipeline—collecting and processing conversion events with low latency, and producing attribution signals used for reporting and campaign optimization. You’ll raise the bar on reliability, observability, and operational excellence for business-critical services, and help evolve our attribution platform toward a more unified, configurable architecture that supports cross-scenario needs.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
Collaborates with engineering, product, and data partners to define requirements for conversion measurement and attribution scenarios, including latency and correctness goals.Drives dependency alignment and produces design docs for near real-time conversion/attribution services, including data contracts and operational readiness.Builds, optimizes, and maintains code to improve throughput, latency, reliability, and maintainability of conversion and attribution pipelines.Leads improvements to observability (metrics, dashboards, logging, alerting) and contributes to unified monitoring/alerting practices where applicable.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following operational playbooks.Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends and patterns to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Experience with streaming / near real-time processing and data pipeline reliability patterns (SLOs/SLAs, backpressure, late events, idempotency).Experience with ads measurement / conversion tracking / attribution systems, and familiarity with privacy- and compliance-aware handling of measurement/telemetry data evolves in the era of AI.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
