Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.
The Client Experience team is in a unique position in charge of facing customers directly, and at the same time being the funnel of most innovation and development across the PostgreSQL organization. You would be able to lead AI-driven development, experimentation, surveying capabilities and help us gather a better understanding of our users We deliver customer delight and engineering excellence by crafting intuitive, high-impact experiences across Azure PostgreSQL’s customer-facing surfaces.

Responsibilities
Builds and evolves customer-facing experiences for Azure Database for PostgreSQL across the Azure Portal and related client surfaces.Implements end‑to‑end features spanning UI, client logic, and service integrations, from design through production rollout.Owns quality and reliability of client experiences by fixing bugs, improving performance, and participating in incident diagnosis and follow‑ups.Partners closely with Product Managers and Design to translate customer scenarios, requirements, and UX designs into shipped features. Enables and runs experimentation (A/B tests) to validate UX, labeling, flows, and feature changes using telemetry and metrics. Improves developer and customer usability by simplifying workflows, reducing friction, and modernizing portal and client patterns. Operates with production mindset, including code reviews, telemetry validation, and continuous improvement of live systems. Embodies our culture and values.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Python,OR equivalent experience.Additional Requirements

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/ Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Python,OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Python,OR equivalent experience. Experience with full‑stack development and exposure to frontend development (e.g., TypeScript, React, or similar frameworks), with an understanding of basic UI/UX principles.Familiarity with building customer‑facing applications or portals, through internships, academic projects, or early industry experience.Basic understanding of cloud concepts, such as resource configuration, service lifecycle, or managed services (Azure experience is a plus).Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL fundamentals; familiarity with PostgreSQL concepts is a plus.Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and grow technical ownership over time. Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
