OverviewMicrosoft 365(M365) Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud is the platform that powers billions of real-time customer conversations across Teams, Skype, Dynamics, and third-party solutions (through Azure Communication Services). The platform enables reliable and high-quality messaging, meeting, and audio/video calling services that work every time, from anywhere, seamlessly across all customer touchpoints. Conversations on our platforms are made more intelligent in real-time, empowering best-in-class productivity tools for the modern workplace where every call, meeting, or chat will make the next one better. IC3 Policies and settings are critical to drive adoption and revenue of Teams. We grew our global Teams MAU from 50M to 330M since 2020 through addition of over 600 controls spread across 50 policies and 25 settings. Our policy platform is a hyperscale platform serving 75 unique policies resulting in 3 billion runtime resolutions per day.
Join the IC3 policy team, where we are at the forefront of modernizing tenant policy administration for Microsoft Teams. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the design and development of scalable microservices that support secure, intelligent, and compliant policy enforcement across global and sovereign cloud environments. You will play a pivotal role in integrating AI and Copilot capabilities into policy workflows, enabling proactive insights, automated governance, and enhanced user experiences. This role demands technical depth, architectural leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver resilient and enterprise-grade solutions.

Responsibilities
Architect and implement distributed systems that power tenant policy enforcement, configuration, and monitoring in Microsoft Teams.Lead modernization efforts by deprecating hyperscale legacy systems and transitioning to microservices aligned with platform standards.Drive AI/Copilot integration into policy services to automate policy management, surface intelligent recommendations, and improve administrator productivity.Collaborate with partner teams to deliver cohesive, scalable, and compliant solutions.Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold engineering standards through code quality, reliability, and performance optimization.Own service health through on-call rotations, incident response, and proactive monitoring strategies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering production-grade services at scale.Reliable understanding of distributed systems, data consistency models, and service reliability.Experience with secure development practices and privacy-by-design principles.Proficient communication skills and a track record of cross-team collaboration and mentorship.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
