OverviewThe Microsoft Azure cloud has machines spanning the globe, so that we can empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. As the fleet grows, efficient utilization of all our resources becomes a vital part of the business. If you are interested in helping define, build, and manage this fleet to maximize utilization and minimize costs, then consider Azure Core Compute (One Fleet Efficiency group). Our group works closely with MSR (Microsoft Research) to bring the latest and greatest innovation in server technologies to our data centers, including disaggregating resources. This will fundamentally change how we have been running and managing our data centers.
As a Software Engineer in our group, you will help design, develop, and run an Azure service that will manage and reshape the Azure fleet based on telemetry and intelligence. You will get opportunities to work on longer-term initiatives with high impact. You will work with many internal Azure partners to come up with creative solutions and realize them in production. Responsibilities
Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.a
Qualifications
Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,OR equivalent experience.Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,OR equivalent experience.Experience with distributed systems.Experience working on services.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
