If so, the Microsoft Azure Storage team is the perfect fit for you. Azure Storage is a foundational service in the Azure Cloud which powers six key storage services: Blob Storage, Table Storage (NoSQL Key-Value store), Queue Storage, Data Lake Storage, File Storage, and Disk Storage. These services host data from some of the largest companies in the world and support all of Microsoft’s largest online businesses including Xbox, Office365, and Bing while scaling to store many exabytes of customer data. We are looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about empowering the developers in Azure Storage to build a high-quality, hyperscale storage system. If you are obsessed with customers, want to provide highly available and highly reliable distributed systems, and love working on new projects where you can define online service health solutions to make an impact on a massive product like Azure Storage, this could be position for you! You will have an opportunity to make high impact changes on the organization that builds a hyperscale storage system.

You would be joining a talented, highly collaborative team, with responsibility for engineering some of the health services of the Azure storage service. You will be working on services that bring in AI to ensure high quality feature development and delivery. The role brings exposure to cutting edge storage, memory, networking, and distributed system technologies, with broad opportunity to influence both engineering and business. The team is responsible for various online service health infrastructure services, managing the pre-prod fleet of storage servers, quality of complex scenarios in Storage while ensuring high availability, reliability, durability, and cost efficiencies.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and operate scalable, low latency and high throughput cloud services and frameworks to stress storage backend.Streamline release qualification process for new features and lead efforts to fully automate end to end scenarios with a relentless focus on Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD).Take an active role and partner with peer teams and external partners to ensure new storage features meet target availability, security, and reliability goals, with an emphasis on quality upstream.Participate in quality initiatives to streamline release quality gates and release pipeline.Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommend actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.Review current developments and proactively seek new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.Embody our culture and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Experience in distributed systems and microservices architecture.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 1+ year(s) experience in development of cloud services and distributed systems.1+ year(s) experience with familiarity in Quality Assurance (QA) life cycle, methodologies, and best practices, and proven ability to plan, schedule, and deliver quality software.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
