Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. The Azure SQL DB Serverless & Resource Governance (RG) team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the forefront of delivering a high-quality experience for customers—whether they’re running databases that consume a fraction of a core or span an entire machine. This diversity in resource allocation translates to revenue ranging from pennies to hundreds of dollars per day.We support a wide range of SQL DB offerings, including serverless databases where resources are dynamically allocated. Our mission is to ensure the economic viability of the SQL DB business by optimizing how databases utilize cutting-edge hardware.

Engage in every stage of the cloud service lifecycle—from early research and data science to prototyping, development, testing, debugging, and deployment across staging and production environments. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience4+ years of hands-on coding experience shipping products across multiple release cycles.Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Systems, Computer Science.Working knowledge of operating systems concepts (scheduling, caching, memory management).Experience with at-scale distributed systems.Experience with large-scale data analytics and appProficiency with C#/C++, solid knowledge of SQL.Prior experience in Cloud service offeringDesign and implementation skills.Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
