Description

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Azure Core organization, you will contribute to building the foundational infrastructure of Microsoft’s cloud platform for utility computing. This platform operates at one of the lowest levels of the software and hardware stack and includes a virtualized computational layer, a fully automated service management system, and a comprehensive suite of highly scalable storage services.

Azure is a rapidly evolving cloud platform where teams work together to manage the full capacity lifecycle—from demand forecasting to hardware decommissioning. The vision is to develop a Capacity Infrastructure Services (CIS) platform that automates hardware and device provisioning and de-provisioning, datacenter operations, and business processes, while delivering end-to-end data analytics. This approach enables Microsoft services to manage capacity consistently, efficiently, and securely.

In this role, you will help develop a comprehensive resource provisioning ecosystem to secure, validate, and provision the multi-layered Azure platform. Your contributions will support capacity flexibility and scalability for one of the fastest-growing cloud platforms in the industry, while deepening your expertise in cloud infrastructure and systems engineering.

Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.Delivery of a reliable, scalable, secure Capacity Infrastructure Platform solution for 1st and 3rd party customers, contributing technical expertise throughout development stages.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system for interruptions and recommends actions to restore system/product/service.Continuously drive improvement across teams based on the resource provisioning ecosystem data.Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, OR Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 2+ years of backend infrastructure experience. Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 1+ year(s) of experience leading cross-functional initiatives.Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
