We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who will be responsible for architecting, developing, and operationalizing platforms and services that enable MCAPS businesses with a multi-billion-dollar revenue generating unit enabling them to further grow/scale with accelerated digital solutions. You will design and deliver cutting-edge technology solutions, integrate generative AI capabilities, build APIs, pipelines and connections with other products/services in the MCAPS technology stack, to enable efficient flows of work for key MCAPS personas. You will closely partner with engineers and teams across Microsoft to leverage Platforms and Frameworks, innovate with product and design teams to create User Experiences, and collaborate with Security and Trust teams to engineer compliance controls for your solutions. Our products combine backend/cloud services, data processing, state-of-the-art Generative AI/LLMs, and intuitive and easy-to-use UXs to deliver scalable and intelligent solutions to our users.

Shape system architectures that provide measurable customer value, along with driving engineering and operational excellence across products and services.Design and build scalable, multi-tenant solutions that serve divergent business and user needs in a broad capability area.Design and build solutions in an agile way, prototype and iterate with stakeholders, deliver value iteratively through MVP releases and fast-follow value-add enhancements, to support critical business needs. Dynamically adjust engineering plans to support high priority business asks.Design and build modern AI-first experiences that enable efficient completion of business workflows and support users in-the-flow-of-work decision making.Deliver solutions with high quality and user satisfaction, in a measurable and data driven way.Oversee partnerships with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Technical Leads, TPMs) to determine user requirements within and across teams for multiple solutions or product lines across MCAPS businesses.Oversee teams and provide technical leadership for identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with appropriate stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items.Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor the service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore the service when appropriate.Act as a gatekeeper for product compliance, identifying and addressing security/privacy concerns.Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, scalability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. Partner internally to improve the overall productivity through recommendations and improvements to tools and processes.Embody our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
o OR equivalent experience.
Preferred:
6+ years of working experience in designing, building, and managing highly available and distributed large-scale services.5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably with full stack development using C#, Java, Java script, React Native, TypeScript, Python.5+ years of working experience with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, or others, and familiarity with cloud concepts such as containers, orchestration, serverless, and microservices.Experience in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures, algorithms with proven testing, debugging and analytical skills.Familiarity with DevOps practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, testing, and monitoring.Effective communication, collaboration skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issues to create clarity.Understanding of GenAI/LLMs and related application architecture patterns.A passion for software engineering building resilient, operationally efficient platforms, and experiences.Experience working across disciplines and teams.A passion for leading a diverse, inclusive engineering organization.Significant developer experience that builds empathy and understanding of a broader developer community.Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
