Description

The Windows OS Compatibility team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team to solve compatibility issues for future Windows releases. Our team is located in Redmond, WA. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to solve challenging compatibility problems for millions of customers. You will be contributing to the design and implementation of compatibility infrastructure components and have the opportunity to work directly with our internal and external partners to identify, investigate and fix compatibility problems. This is a high impact area, as millions of Windows customers depend on your work to be productive!

You will work in an gile environment that is constantly learning and improving. You will participate in all stages of constructing software: from idea conception to planning, requirements definition, development and testing. In daily work, you will have opportunities to utilize latest AI/ML technology to analyze Compatibility problem and develop solution. Candidates will need to demonstrate deep technical knowledge and development expertise to triage, investigate and fix compatibility issues in a broad variety of leading-edge third party and first party applications. As part of the role, the candidate will need to work closely with other engineering groups, provide partners with feedback, and provide your expertise to influence the roadmap for future product releases.

Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to plan, design and develop Windows Compatibility Mitigation Infrastructure to support new customer scenarios and advance platform features.Works with internal and external partners to understand Windows Compatibility challenges and deliver solution.Investigates Compatibility bugs reported from customers.Builds mitigation to solve Compatibility problems.Utilizes AI technology to improve work efficiency and develop reliable and high-performance product.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.4+ years of experience for Intel x86 or other Assembly language.3+ years of experience for Windows debugging tools.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Technical experience in designing, coding, and reviewing robust, scalable, understandable code

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
