We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer with experience working with all service aspects of high-throughput and multi-tenant services. The candidate will be responsible for deploying machine learning and statistical models in Azure, serving model inferences as (Application Programming Interface) APIs, and ensuring seamless integration with other micro-services. This role requires close collaboration with data scientists and engineers, independent execution, and designing scalable solutions. The candidate should have substantial experience with big data, and ML (Machine Learning) technologies, as well as building and monitoring data collection and processing pipelines.

This Principal Software Engineer opportunity will allow you to make a broad positive impact that will include building appealing AI experiences, solving complex algorithmic problems, forging real-time troubleshooting tools via complex data models, streamlining our monitoring systems, evolving our metrics to enable large scale performance optimizations, or even enabling intricate business/engineering processes.
As the Principal Software Engineer on the Windows Cloud Experiences team, you will be responsible for:
Model Deployment: Design, develop, and deploy machine learning execution workflows in Azure, ensuring they are optimized for performance and scalability. API Development: Serve model inferencing as APIs that can be consumed by other micro-services, ensuring robustness and efficiency. Data Pipelines: Build and monitor data collection and processing pipelines to ensure efficient and accurate data flow for model training and inference. Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor deployed models and APIs for performance, reliability, and scalability, making improvements as necessary. Solution Design: Independently design and implement scalable solutions for model deployment and management with production quality code. Collaboration: Work closely with other disciplines to understand their needs and translate them into scalable and maintainable software solutions. Embody our culture and values.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
o OR equivalent experience.
Experience coding in Python or C# is preferredExperience in developing and managing APIs, including RESTful APIs. Experience with Azure or similar cloud services with big data, data science, ETL Pipelines, (Machine Learning Operationalization) MLOps, and Machine Learning technologies, including Azure Machine Learning, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Functions. Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.Passion for mentoring engineers. Ability to generate clarity in ambiguous situations. Ability to quickly ramp up, understand complex problems, and create solutions across many products Passion for and ability to quickly understand emerging technologies. Solid communication and collaboration skills. Self-motivated, proactive, and results oriented.Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
