The Azure Performance Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team to leverage their Linux experience and skill to develop, enhance or improve Linux based features for guest and server systems running in Azure. The position will involve conducting performance analysis and measurements for critical Linux based systems that will power Azure infrastructure around the world. The role will provide opportunities for impact in a high growth area for Azure and Microsoft as a whole. Performance and reliability analysis for Linux based Azure platformsRecommend performance and reliability improvementsInvestigate and provide root-cause analysis software and/or hardware system performance problemsContribute to design discussions for new agent software to be deployed to Linux-based System on Chip (SoC)Linux agent performance and system resource usage analysisCreate, enhance, debug performance telemetry collection systemsParticipate in code and technical design reviewsEducate others about Linux subsystems development and techniques

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.4+ years of experience working with Linux kernel codeUnderstanding of Linux kernel subsystemsOther Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer ScienceOR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Experience with Linux-based SoC hardware and its system deploymentsTechnical knowledge of Azure, storage, file systems, networkingUnderstanding of hardware internals including processor instructions, hardware counters, and failure behaviors Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
