At the center of that ecosystem, key to the interactive component of gaming, is input.As we support a large and increasing array of devices and experiences, the Xbox Input and Accessories team is seeking a creative and technical Senior Software Engineer to help deliver the next generation of end-to-end experiences to delight players, while also building developer focused platforms to empower game studios and hardware manufacturers to innovate and deliver on their own visions.
In this role, you would be contributing to a rich and diverse set of drivers, services and APIs used across our many products, with reach and impact extending to billions of devices (including every Windows PC out there!). This would entail low-level, high-performant OS development, in kernel-mode drivers, as well as user-mode development for the code interfacing with it (including high-level virtualization items commonly used in our cloud offerings).

As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you’ll be responsible for bringing up, maintaining and updating drivers across our input stack for console and PC with a deep focus on reliability and compatibility. This includes integrating and interacting with the related APIs and services calling into these drivers. The team also offers opportunities in mobile device support, as well as developer-facing APIs, allowing for significant breadth, impact and growth.
Designing and developing driver software components with reliability, compatibility and latency in mind. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, game developers, system architects, industry partners and other software teams. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Solid design, development and debugging skills in C/C++ Solid written and verbal communication skills Desire to learn and grow
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in both user and kernel mode development Experience in Windows driver development Experience writing high performance and low-latency code
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
