Within SPDGP, the Data Privacy Platform (DPP) team has been providing internal data privacy products for all Microsoft since 2018, operating these products at high scale and availability. We build reliable, highly scalable, highly performing, and distributed systems for scanning, cataloging, classification, and DSR processing. Our job is to provide privacy infrastructure, to produce meaningful insights about compliance, and to create understandable actions that can be taken to improve. We are leveraging this experience to create new data privacy products to benefit Microsoft and later all our customers. There is a steady stream of new requirements for both our internal and external partners that is creating exciting opportunities to work at high scale, impact, and visibility. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who will lead major technical project deliveries.

A hands-on technical IC who executes and drives the engineering direction with sound design practices and guides the team with best practices in software designLead the architecture, design, and implementation of various capabilities within migration with focus on quality, scale and sustainable development practices.Establish KPIs and successfully drive execution through collaboration and partnership with PM team and partners. Mentor and grow senior engineers in the team. Lead by example and helps drive clarity, creating energy, and driving results. Qualifications
Required/Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 4+ years of experience with large distributed systems delivering large-scale, secure, and resilient cloud services. Experience with large scale data processing and architectures.Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Experience building and shipping production grade software and services. Have a deep desire to work collaboratively, solve problems with groups, find win/win solutions and celebrate successes. Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, solving problems by always leading with deep passion and empathy for customers. Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems. High enthusiasm, integrity, ingenuity, results-orientation, self-motivation, and resourcefulness in a fast-paced environment.Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
