Modern open-source technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Click House are widely used as first-class citizen. Advanced data services such as bot detection and click fraud via AI are the business foundations of this team.We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to drive the data strategy, design, development, and run the data pipeline services. Our aspiration is to build world-class Big Data system that is complaint (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), reliable, secure, scalable, agile, high performance and cost effective. The system is designed while keeping user privacy and data access governance as a core pillar of the data platform. Design and develop privacy first data platform solutions in collaboration with teammates.Participate in the definition of key scenarios, use cases, and end-user experiences.Design services with a strong focus on high availability, low latency and high scalability, robustness, and observability.Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with engineering and product teams. Drive long-term design thinking for systems and engineering processes with simplicity and maintainability as core tenets.Take end-to-end responsibility for the development, observability, quality, testing, and production readiness of the services you build.Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, reusable, diagnosable, and actively monitored.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.5+ years of experience designing and operating large scale big data services.
Experience with OSS big data technology, such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Click House. Preferred Qualifications:
Long term strategic thinking and strong problem-solving skills.10+ years of software development experience.7+ years of experience designing and operating large scale big data services.
Expertise with OSS big data technology, such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Click House.
A technical background and solid foundation in software engineering principles and architecture design.
Ability to plan and influence technical designs on projects that will have potential long-term impact to Microsoft.
Solid theoretical fundamentals include but not limited to data structures, algorithms, time complexity and space complexity, lock-free data structures, multi-threaded architecture etc.
Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
