We are the Defender for DevOps team within the Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Security organization - a diverse and inclusive engineering team focused on creating next-generation security services that protect cloud services from code to cloud. Cyberattacks have increased significantly in recent years, and attackers are increasingly shifting left to compromise source code, build systems, and supply chains. We are seeking a creative, energetic, and driven engineer to make a significant impact on Microsoft customers and help defend the DevOps process against the next wave of cybersecurity attacks.
We are looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Defender for DevOps team, you’ll help develop the industry's most advanced, market-leading security solutions, integrating seamlessly across platforms and architectures. Our mission is to protect Microsoft (1st party) and multi-cloud (3rd party) customers from emerging software supply chain attacks. Drive business-critical initiatives that shape the future of Microsoft Security products.Ramp up quickly in new technical areas to manage responsibilities across various Microsoft Security products and layers of the cloud technology stack.Design and architect scalable, secure solutions that meet high standards of quality and efficiency.Mentor and develop individual contributor talent to enhance engineering excellence within the team.Plan, design, and execute high-quality feature work, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals.Collaborate closely with designers and product managers to build alpha/preview releases, iterating and learning from them to deliver impactful production experiences.Solve significant technological challenges that impact both the team and our customers.Partner with peer engineers and customers to deliver impactful solutions for our products.Participate in and provide high-quality feedback during design reviews, code reviews, and other team activities.Embody our culture and values
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+
years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but
not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of professional hands-on experience building large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP)Proven problem solving and analysis skillsTeam player with collaboration, communication, and leadership skillsAttention to details and passion for quality engineeringDemonstrate success dealing with ambiguous “unsolved” problems; and the ability to independently make solid progress by breaking new groundExperience with Security/Cyber domainsExperience with Kubernetes and Containers  Experience with .NET/C# Experience with Azure cloud environment Experience with application and system monitoring systems Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
