Description
Are you interested in designing, developing, implementing and operating sophisticated data center management solutions? Microsoft recently acquired Xandr’s Real Time Bidding platform operating out of its own data centers while some services are transitioning to a hybrid cloud environment in Azure. We collaborate across multiple divisions to develop and implement unique automation solutions.As a Senior Software Engineer (Systems & Automation) specializing in systems and automation, you will architect, design and operate both Xandr’s data centers and Azure’s cloud platform.
You will collaborate with internal and external teams and industry partners, (primarily located in EST and Central European Time) to ensure that customer and business requirements are met while upholding our Service Level Agreements (SLA).
This role provides an opportunity for you to leverage and expand your expertise in, among other things, data center management tooling, evaluations of new hardware, provisioning automation, configuration management, orchestration and cybersecurity.

You develop and implement reliable, scalable, and high-performance system architecture designs and produce design documents and implementation plans for system and automation solutions. You partner with Engineering and Program Management teams to understand customer, business, and technical requirements to propose system or modifications to architecture; participation in architecture reviews to ensure designs and modifications meet all functional, performance, scale, and compliance requirements. You offer modification and improvements to system administration technologies based on existing and emerging industry knowledge to contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of reliable, scalable, and high-performance data center and system management automation. You continuously review the system architecture to identify risks and determine improvements as well as measures to ensure the highest systems security. You operate system administration and provisioning solutions with the highest quality bar and invest in developing and deploying robust automation tools that increase engineering efficiency, minimize operational burden, and reduce human errors, while optimizing the utilization of infrastructure and resources. You define telemetry analytics and quality metrics to drive new data collection instrumentation that can improve the detection and troubleshooting of problems.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Python, Golang, Perl, bash/shell.OR equivalent experience.4+ years of experience in infrastructure technologies, systems architecture and administration, automation, software development/support, technology solutions, cybersecurity, networking VLAN-Virtual Local Area Network, VXLAN-Virtual Extensible LAN, ACLs-Access Control Lists, DNS-Domain Name System, DHCP-Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
4+ years of in-depth experience of Ubuntu, Puppet, building systems & tools and technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to Python, Golang, Perl, bash/shell.Other Requirements:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in infrastructure technologies, systems architecture and administration, automation, software development/support, technology solutions, cybersecurity, networking VLAN-Virtual Local Area Network, VXLAN-Virtual Extensible LAN, ACLs-Access Control Lists, DNS-Domain Name System, DHCP-Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.Capability to work cross-functionally in a global, organization with diverse partners in different time zonesAbility to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into plans.Ability to work both in a team as well as individually to develop streamlined results.Experienced with monitoring techniques, tools, alerting, and notification processes.High-level problem-solving and communication skills.Advanced knowledge of Ubuntu operating systems and PostgreSQL databases (or similar).Demonstarted leadership and mentoring skills.Experience with Git, HashiCorp Vault, HA Proxy, Nginx, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, virsh/QEMU/KVM virtualization tools, Ansible, Azure DevOps (‘ADO’).Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
