Description
The Azure Edge team within the Azure Edge & Platform organization (E+P) is responsible for building the platform, services, and infrastructure which unifies distributes sites and systems into a single operations, security, application, and data model, making it easier for customers to adopt cloud innovation seamlessly across hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge. Our team is at the forefront of building the Adaptive Cloud, and has an ambitious product release schedule over the next several years across multiple industry verticals and Fortune 500 customers.With this role, we are looking for an experienced, innovative, and energetic Principal Software Engineer Release Manager which can help shepherd the organization through delivering successful releases to build the Adaptive Cloud. The candidate has a demonstrated history of planning & executing successful product releases, is comfortable with changing requirements & ambiguity, has technical breadth, and cross organizational & release management skills. The organization’s work is dynamic and fast paced, with large complex initiatives spanning multiple teams & organizations across Azure, and successful candidates thrive when under tight timelines and ambiguity.

Lead diverse product and service teams to be able to successfully deliver on our Edge portfolio & releases on-time while meeting all our release criteria. This includes driving cross-team scrums, shiprooms, reviews with E+P leaders, semester/sprint planning, and cross-organizational dependency reviews. Define the release roadmap, dependencies, and release criteria to ensure that teams that may span different organizations can successfully come together to deliver success that can be measured. Actively shape an organizational culture to drive release management and organizational processes. Help build an open, diverse, and inclusive culture where everyone on the team is empowered to share their opinions, concerns, and suggestions to help better the team and remove roadblocks to success. Coach team leaders and engineers within the team to be able to setup the right processes and rhythms within their own teams to help contribute towards successful releases. Provide regular updates to leaders in E+P on state of releases, risks, and mitigations. Innovate and make service deployment and maintenance efficient such that it provides reliability with minimal manual engineer intervention We are looking for someone who shares our passion for building great software for enterprises. You will work in a forward-looking product as part of an agile, collaborative, and cross-discipline team.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.OR equivalent experience.6+ years with building & releasing complex platforms & services across the cloud and edge. Demonstrated background of 2 or more successful major product releases or initiatives, with examples. 6+ years experience leading planning and execution of cross-functional and cross-organization projects involving multiple organizations. Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and risks. Other Requirements:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years with building complex platforms & services across the cloud and edge. OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years with building complex platforms & services across the cloud and edge. 8+ years experience leading planning and execution of cross-functional and cross-organization projects involving multiple organizations. 4+ years experience with people management.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
