Responsibilities

Partner closely with project management, applied science, data, and design teams to define opportunities where artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) can improve user experience.Leads technical design and architecture for Microsoft Store client, identifying dependencies and driving extensible, maintainable solutions that scale across millions of devices.Demonstrates engineering leadership through hands-on contributions to critical platform components, mentoring others, and setting technical direction.Applies deep subject-matter expertise to influence cross-team planning and execution, aligning engineering efforts with product vision and accelerating delivery through fast iteration and experimentation.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), ensuring reliability and performance of Store client experiences, while mentoring engineers across the team and driving operational excellence.Proactively explores emerging technologies and patterns to improve availability, efficiency, and observability of the Store client, sharing insights and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to operate with a strategic, entrepreneurial mindset, thriving in fast-paced environments that embrace experimentation and rapid iteration. 4+ years of experience in Windows application development technologies and frameworks such as UWP, WinAppSDK, WPF or Win32, MVVM.Experience building intelligent features using LLMs, recommendation systems, or personalization frameworks. Proficient coding skills in C# and/or C++, with a track record of delivering large-scale, performant, scalable, and maintainable software. Deep understanding of the Windows app ecosystem.Ability to work with teams which are globally distributed across time zones.Experience in leading engineering teams in the past.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
