Description

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn power Microsoft’s cloud business. The CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible. CO+I Engineering is a competitive advantage for Microsoft, and an important pillar in its cloud success.

GDCO (Global DataCenter Operation) App and Platform team develops apps and services to enable continuous datacenter operations at global scale that are effective, compliant, cost-efficient, and intelligent, so it reliably provides computation capacity to empower Microsoft clouds and services such as Azure, Office, CRM, and new tech trends such as ChatGPT and Copilot. We are looking for a passionate and self-driven Software Engineer II to work with the team and our partners to enable the next generation of data center operation and buildout service and management, with cutting edge features and technology, to make sure it matches the exponentially growing cloud computation demands from all over the world.

Design, develop and deliver app platform capabilities with modern frontend end technology (e.g. MFE, MF, PWA, etc.,) with sound practices Collaborate with team members, stakeholders and engineering partner teams to deliver end to end solutions to business problems.Participate in design and code reviews, share proven practices, and contribute to fostering engineering excellence culture.Perform live site on-call duties, follow and update shared playbook documentation, work together with the team to ensure service quality, availability and reliability.Proactively seek new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and leverage them in project work.Embody our Culture and Values



Qualifications

Required/ Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience2+ years working experience in software design, development, DevOps in web application and/or microservices1+ years frontend web application development experiences with modern web frameworks

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

• 4+ years working experience in software design, development, DevOps in web application and/or microservices

• Experiences in modern web framework such as React, Angular, etc.,; Experiences in breaking down large monolithic applications into micro frontend ends will be a big plus

• Passionate about and good at solving hard problems with data driven analysis and approach

• Good communication skills (both written and oral)

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
