Description
We are looking to hire a Software Design Engineer II (SDE II) to join our team! Microsoft Azure Edge + Platform (E+P) is a globally distributed team of engineers, architects, program managers, product managers, business program managers, business administrators, user experience researchers and designers who are responsible for the platform for Microsoft and for delivering Microsoft’s edge vision. As part of this team, you will work on building complete security solutions. You will have the chance to work on one or more layers of the security stack, ranging from enhancing the Linux kernel security capabilities to virtualization-based approaches to securing the operating system, and mission critical online services for supporting these types of security technologies. In addition to a lot of design and coding opportunities, you will interact with and learn from the large Open-Source Linux community and engineers from companies across the technology spectrum working on Linux and related projects. You will also be able to create and contribute to open-source projects on sites like GitHub and kernel.org. If you love challenging technical problems, this is the job for you. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Background Check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience Experience with Software design, coding, debugging and problem solving skills. Experience navigating uncertain situations and making well-informed decisions amidst ambiguity. Experience collaborating effectively across various teams, fostering productive partnerships. Experience working on computer security Linux kernel development Knowledge of computer architecture, operating system kernel, and hypervisors Knowledge of low-level system software (e.g., Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, UEFI) and hardware such as Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Knowledge of building and maintaining mission critical online services Experience in developing & creating platforms Experience with ship cycles for commercial products
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
