Description

Overview

The Core AI Infrastructure team is crucial for sustaining Microsoft’s AI services and products and enabling secure, efficient compute resource provisioning for customers. We work at the forefront of large-scale cloud AI, managing network connectivity, enforcing security, and optimizing efficiency to ensure reliable compute for all Microsoft AI workloads. As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to features across the infrastructure stack – developing and validating APIs for resource provisioning, troubleshooting complex issues, and maintaining operational dashboards – all to support scalable and secure AI platform services. We seek a highly technical, hands-on engineer who is comfortable tackling complex problems, collaborating with multiple partner teams, and embraces Microsoft’s cultural values of inclusion and caring.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and validate APIs for network and compute resource provisioning in Azure cloud environments.Optimize infrastructure for performance and efficiency to support scalable AI services.Troubleshoot and resolve pre-production and production issues, ensuring operational reliability and quick recovery. Maintain dashboards and metrics for networking and AI Infrastructure, providing insights into usage, performance, and security compliance.Collaborate with team members and partner teams to ensure service reliability, drive continuous improvements, and uphold SLA and security standards.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldExperience with cloud infrastructure or distributed systems.Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting complex technical issues in production or cloud environments4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, C++, Java, or PythonHands-on experience with resource quota management, security policy enforcement, and performance optimization in cloud services or large-scale distributed systems.Experience using data analytics and monitoring tools (e.g., Geneva, Power BI, Kusto, Grafana, Azure Synapse) to track infrastructure metrics, analyze telemetry, and drive reliability improvements.#AIPlatform

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
