We are looking to hire a Software Engineer II to join our team and help deliver seamless, high-quality, and reliable AI powered features and platforms to empower Copilot Studio users to create mission-critical AI workloads. You'll work alongside talented teammates from product design and applied science to deliver features that empower users and scale across millions of tenants in the Microsoft ecosystem. In the process, you'll also learn modern tools, technologies, and industry best practices as part of a world-class engineering environment that values mentorship and innovation.

Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, scalable, reliable, and secure code for new AI-driven features that help agents improve.Contribute to the design, implementation, and iteration of features that propose the agent shape. Build and maintain systems to gather insights on agent performance and user interactions, surfacing data-driven suggestions for one-click fixes.Collaborate with Applied Science & AI experts to design, build, and deliver cutting-edge generative AI features and transform what it means to build AI-first SaaS.Embrace and apply modern engineering best practices including CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational excellence to ensure high quality, maintainability, and resilience in production. Apply a variety of tools and technologies to deliver diverse customer experiences.Work across various technologies and platforms, participating in the full software development cycle: brainstorm, prototype, implement, test, and deploy.Embody our culture and values

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.2+ years of software development experience in application or services development on cloud-based platforms or AI-driven systems.

Understanding of all aspects of the software development process with experience shipping at least one release.

Hands-on experience working with Large Language Models and Generative AI.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred qualifications:Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Proven experience building AI-centric software and services, with familiarity in AI-based orchestration and agent capabilities.

Solid background in developing scalable applications and services on Azure (or other major cloud platforms) with a focus on reliability, resilience, security, and performance.

Hands-on experience developing modern applications using React and TypeScript.

Ability to deal with ambiguity, deliver in an agile environment, be willing to learn and adopt new technologies/industry trends and have good cross group collaboration skills.Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
