Description

Application Programming Interface(API)s serve as the foundation of our connected, digital world. Azure API Platform, as part of the broader Developer Division, is responsible for some of the most popular, highly paid and fastest growing Azure services like Azure API Management and the recently announced Azure API Center. Azure API Center and Azure API Management jointly provide a comprehensive solution for managing the entire API lifecycle. These services enable thousands of developers across the globe to develop and manage Web, Mobile, API, Event-Driven AI applications.

We're looking for a Software Engineer II who is passionate about building new products while also managing a globally distributed service who can produce high-quality solutions independently and contribute to and benefit from a collaborative team environment. You'll be working on both open source and platform components written in a variety of programming languages. This is a unique opportunity to work on large scale distributed systems and implement initiatives that are key to Microsoft's cloud strategy.

Develop and implement comprehensive testing plans to ensure solution quality. Enhance test coverage by adding new tests and removing outdated ones. Contribute to product architecture and refine code plans, ensuring compliance with security standards.Share knowledge and innovative ideas to enhance developer tools. Automate production and deployment of complex features. Stay current with software engineering advancements and adhere to best practices for coding, scaling, and performance.Experiment to evaluate changes for prototyping and feature testing. Review and execute project plans, breaking down larger tasks. Support customer deployments and learn best practices for deployment.Monitor system features for issues like degradation or downtime. Integrate tools for telemetry data collection and analysis. Maintain live services and identify solutions to operational problems.Collaborate with stakeholders to define feature requirements. Incorporate feedback into future designs and use continuous feedback loops to measure customer value and usage patterns.Write and implement code for products, services, or features. Use debugging tools and analyze logs to verify assumptions and identify root causes of issues. Review code to ensure quality and apply feedback and coding patterns.Embody our Culture and Values



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Experience building and working with distributed system’s and services in the cloud.Experience with web application frameworks like ASP.NET, Node.js etc.Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP is a plus.Written and oral communication skills.Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
