We are seeking a software engineer II to improve and extend the C++ tool chain for current and new hardware platforms. Job responsibilities include optimizing for current and future cloud workloads, code generation for supported targets, and ensuring C++ toolchain security and reliability. All team members take ownership of the customer experience and develop skills in the complete software lifecycle. Design, implement, and test new features and optimizations for the C++ backend compiler.Collaborate with other compiler teams, language designers, and tool developers to ensure compatibility, correctness, and performance of the C++ compiler across different platforms and scenarios.Investigate and resolve customer performance, quality, reliability issues and feedback related to the C++ compiler and its generated output.Collaborate with major silicon partners on next-generation hardware for the client and cloud.Other

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Current software development experience in C++ or a related language.Knowledge of compiler fundamentals, code generation, optimization techniques, and assembly languages.Experience with developing, debugging, and testing compilers or similar systems software

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Current software development experience in C++ or a related language.Knowledge of compiler fundamentals, code generation, optimization techniques, and assembly languages.Experience with developing, debugging, and testing compilers or similar systems software.Problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with a passion for trouble shooting and solving complex customer problems.Experience with developing or using compiler backends (CPU/GPU/TPU), especially the Microsoft C++ compiler or LLVM. Familiarity with assembly code and modern CPU microarchitecture.Experience with performance analysis and profiling tools, such as VTune, Perf, or WinDbg.Passion for learning new technologies and improving existing ones. Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
