Description
The Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) team drives the creation of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. Within CO+I, the Datacenter Planning & eXecution Engineering (DPXE) team manages a portfolio of complex, multidisciplinary, multi-million-dollar, multi-year projects, responsible for architecting, designing, and building advanced connected systems and tools using AI and microservices architecture to enable real-time management and support of critical business functions, such as cost, schedule, networking, commissioning, procurement, safety, and planning. The team has a charter to deliver against the NorthStar goal of developing robust automation for these functions through well-engineered systems while simultaneously designing an AI-powered recommendation engine, integrated into the broader CO+I ecosystem.Our Systems Engineering team delivers innovative solutions to address the automation needs to scale our delivery capabilities. We are looking for passionate, high energy Software Engineer II who can deal with ambiguity and innovate to deliver automation capabilities that power the long-range execution planning efforts, drive workflow improvements, and build solutions to assist in the delivery of large-scale data centers through efficient management of cost and schedule. Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.Shares knowledge and code assets with the engineering teams.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
o OR equivalent experience.2+ years of experience in software development across at least two of the following domains: Web development (React, JS, Angular, OR Equivalent), Cloud Development (Azure, AWS, OR Equivalent), Service development (.NET, Java, OR Equivalent), CRM Development (Microsoft Power Platform OR Equivalent).
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
OR Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Ability to understand the diverse needs of our customer base, including accessibility requirements. Proficiency in storage solutions, such as SQL and optimization techniques. Experience with CRM platforms like Dynamics 365. Strong understanding of security measures and deployment automation.
Proficiency in AI services, encompassing Gen AI, Long Language Models, Knowledge Graph, Machine Learning, and related technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on developing efficient solutions. Applies a data-driven approach to create seamless integrations with various upstream and downstream systems.Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
