As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have an opportunity to work with the latest cloud technologies to build industry-leading business management solutions for your customers. In this role, you will work with Azure, Synapse, and other cloud-native platforms to help architect and develop a suite of future-state analytics capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to do the following:

Drive the design, development, deployment, and operation of complex, scalable cloud-based data, analytics, automation, and tooling solutions leveraging modern data platforms and Azure Cloud services. Lead integration of advanced AI capabilities, including Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, and ML models, to enhance system intelligence and user productivity. Apply engineering best practices as you design and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Own your solution end-to-end through design, implementation, and operations. Architect and implement robust observability systems, including monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks, to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution. Leverage telemetry and usage analytics to understand customer behavior and inform product decisions. Partner across teams—product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers—to define and execute end-to-end technical strategies that drive cohesive and impactful user experiences. Contribute to the evolution of Microsoft’s data platforms through technical feedback and innovation. Champion a culture of diversity, inclusion, customer obsession, and continuous learning.



Qualifications

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

BS/BA/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics AND 4+ years of software development experience with big data processing systems or online services. OR equivalent experience. 4+ years of experience with any of the following: SQL Server, Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Databricks. Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages C, C++, Python, C#, JAVA. 4+ years of experience designing and implementing APIs and working with software architecture principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate technical details clearly across teams, as well as excellent analytical skills with systematic and structured approach to software design. Ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies, and passion for building highly scalable, reliable, cloud services, and data. Experience building cloud services on Azure is highly desirable. Familiarity with Finance data and business rhythms a plus. Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes. Deep knowledge of software architecture design, including distributed systems, microservices, and data pipelines. Deep understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
